Build a Winning Team
“A team is not a group of people who work together. A team is a group of people who trust each other” - Simon Sinek
You are a manager in a petfood or a veterinary pharmaceutical company. You have a team of highly competent individuals, but you may feel that as a group they are not performing at their best. Even a company full of A-players won't succeed if those individuals don't have the ability to work well together.
Your team may be underperforming, or experiencing communication breakdown from time to time. Maybe team members are wary of taking risks, concerned that colleagues will embarrass or punish them for admitting a mistake, asking a question, or offering a new idea. Add to that people’s different working styles and points of view, and working harmoniously can be a real challenge.
Recent research shows that key to a team's effectiveness is trust. Who is on the team matters less than how the team works together.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships” says Michael Jordan.
Great teams thrive on trust! As a manager you should be asking how to make that happen. A lot depends on creating a safe environment in which people feel valued and respected, and which allows sharing and experimentation.
Perhaps you have tried different approaches in the past, but feel you now need professional support in helping your team. This is why I created the Build a Winning Team Programme.
“Whether you’re on a sports team, in an office or a member of a family, if you can’t trust one another there’s going to be trouble.” – Steven Covey
A team is a living, dynamic entity with its own personality, vision, rules and blind spots. Individual performance depends on the team environment. Just because one or more individuals outperform doesn’t mean the team will perform exceptionally well overall. In fact, you may find just the opposite.
The Build a Winning Team Programme is primarily aimed at:
“Great teams consist of individuals who have learned to trust each other. Over time, they have discovered each other’s strengths and weaknesses, enabling them to play as a coordinated whole.” - Amy Edmondson
This programme consists of an interactive workshop followed by a number of group coaching sessions. The workshop includes engaging interactive exercises that help participants relax and connect with each other. Fun activities encourage people to see each other in a different light by allowing them to connect in a different setting. The members of your team are asked to think about the implications of these activities at their workplace.
Team bonding activities improve teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. After completing team-building activities, employees better understand each other’s strengths, weaknesses and interests. This understanding will help them work even better together, something vital for any business.
In some cases, a number of face to face or virtual team coaching sessions after the workshop is recommended. This may be particularly important if:
The programme gives you the tools and insights you need to communicate more effectively with everyone on your team. The exercises facilitate team bonding by fostering genuine connections and deeper discussions.
Participants walk away from our sessions with:
One or two day workshop followed by monthly group coaching sessions
